Six beautiful young ladies will be competing for the Miss Guyana Jamzone crown on May 26 at the National Cultural Centre. The queen will have an opportunity to represent Guyana at the Miss Jaycees beauty pageant in Antigua and Barbuda in June, and will also represent Guyana at the International Jamzone pageant in August at the Splashmin’s Fun Park and Resort on the Linden Highway. The six delegates will be competing in swimsuit, evening gown, talent, and intelligence segments. Below is a profile of the delegates.
Janelle Babb
A proud resident of the mining town of Linden is 18-year-old Janelle Babb, a contestant in the Miss Jamzone Guyana 2011 pageant. Miss Babb is quite a familiar face in Linden, since she has successfully represented her hometown, and, at sixteen (16), claimed the title of Miss Guyana Talented Teen (2008) and first runner-up at the Miss Linden Town Week (2009) pageant.
Janella Lewis
Twenty-two-year-old Janella Lewis hails from Georgetown. She lists modelling and reading among her hobbies.
She secured nine passes at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examinations, after which she enrolled at Global Technology, where she successfully completed seven courses in Microsoft Programming. She also studied at School of the Nations, securing a Certificate in Business /Communications
Kiswana Jefford
Kiswana Jefford is the reigning Miss Guyana Earth. She is twenty years old and aspires to become a lawyer. Her hobbies include dancing, reading and chatting online. Although this beauty hails from the mining town of Linden, she obtained her secondary education at St Stanislaus College, where she obtained thirteen CSEC subjects and is currently a second year ‘International Relations’ student at the University of Guyana.
Niketa Barker
Twenty-year-old Niketa Barker, who resides in the Ancient County of Berbice, is another Miss Jamzone 2011 hopeful. She enjoys modelling, reading and cooking during her leisure time.
She attended the New Amsterdam Multilateral School and secured eleven subjects at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examinations. She is presently a student at the University of Guyana, pursing a degree in Medicine.
Candia Paul
Candia Paul is a nineteen-year-old Bartician who enjoys singing, dancing, modelling, and interacting with people. She attended the Anna Regina Secondary School in Region Two, where she secured eight subjects at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examinations. Paul is eager to participate in the pageant, and hopes to be crowned Miss Jamzone 2011.
